York Castle area. Clifford's Tower to the right. The old debtors' prison buildings to the left. The building to the top is the old assize court, now the Crown Court. The other two buildings now house the Castle Museum.

Skeldergate Bridge Was subject to tolls when first opened. The Toll Booth is still present. A short length of the bridge at the northern end opened to allow the passage of ships until the 1950s. The hinged structure can be seen from the adjacent tow path/riverside walk. The lifting mechanism was housed below the Toll Booth. The decaying remains of triangular timber structures built to guide ships through the opening are still present on each side of the bridge.

Scarcroft Green. Part of Micklegate Stray which includes the Knavesmire. An area of allotments can be see to the bottom left below the diagonal path (now returned to grass). During WW2 the whole of Scarcroft Green was given over to allotments as part of the dig for victory campaign.
