The pub was a Hardy's Crown Ales pub, later taken over by Bass. It then suffered a decline but was taken over at the end of 2012 and refurbished.
It is still the Hope Inn and now has its own brewery in the cellar, making Fool Hardy Ales, real ale in casks and bottles.
