' Approximate location of the planned new Great Western Railway station for Looe, to be constructed as the terminus of a line from a junction with the main lne at Trerulefoot, involving major earthworks (including viaducts and tunnels) via a halt at Seaton. The line was to be constructed using Government Loan Guarantee funding, with the relevant enabling Act of Parliament receiving the Royal Assent in 1936. Exploratory boring was carried out for a new tunnel over 2000 yards long near Seaton, and the approach cutting for the latter was commenced. The onset of WW2 resulted in a suspension of works, but land purchased by the GWR for the line remained in railway ownership by BR until the mid1950s. The GWR established a subsidiary development company to create a new hotel and golf resort associated with the new line: contrary to some accounts, the hotel was never constructed but the golf course was commenced and survives as a field name today. The pin location will be updated when further research is completed. '
