It's quite interesting to see how much more elaborate and well-tended are the rear gardens of houses as here in Wellacre Road. It was all a part of the Metro-Land dream. Being a new estate, there is little in the way of mature trees. Most front gardens are now a thing of the past, having been given over to ugly hard standing for the two or more motor cars in each household. '
