The old Balaam Street Fire station
Information via Michael Gilby: "This was actually a satellite station of Canning Town Fire Station located on the Barking Road/Liverpool Road junction. The area of Canning Town, Plaistow and Custom House grew so rapidly after the turn of the 20th century, that Canning Town Fire Station became located in completely the wrong place. This is why the temporary satellite station in Balaam Street was opened. In 1932, a new fire station was built in Prince Regent Lane replacing Canning Town and the satellite station." '
